This tire on my protective tirewall caught my eye. Someone wrote “showdown” on it, clearly while on a vehicle or prior to it as it isn’t in an accessible spot on my wall.
I wish I knew the story behind it. It reminds me of airmen writing messages on bombs during the war.
Ive been thinking about it all weekend.

Clearly there was a showdown and someone lost.

As a eastern Missourian I was raised that the term Hoosier was derogatory, similar to redneck. This was news to some of the folks I worked with in Indiana. They laughed about it and had never heard it as derogatory.
Maybe it was just my dad....

Not just your dad. It’s surprising how much of a disconnect there is, I was raised in Indiana but didn’t find out about the negative connotations until I was an adult. Definitely seems local to Missouri.

Somewhere in the tire wall will probably 3 m ore tires marked the same. Obviously there was a “showdown” event and this tire was marked to be used for that event by the racer/race team.
This could be something for the Great Oppo Hunt: Find all 4 tires marked “showdown”.

I would have expected the graffito following “ Hoosier” to read “daddy?”, cuz I’m a classy mofo.

It’s not just your dad, the Hoosiers make it easy to look down on them.
My opinion of Hoosiers was formed 20 years ago, driving thru the state. First thing I see as I cross the border is a huge billboard in somebody’s front yard with pictures of dead babies and some anti-abortion blather featuring lots of exclamation points
. The neighbor didn’t want to be outdone, so they put up a bigger, more shouty
one, and so on. All this was easy to see because Hoosiers drive side by side at 5 under the limit.
